Our Story
Since 1999, we have been doing one thing with everything we have — raising children who are ready to take on the world. This is our story.
Gateway School was founded in Enugu with a simple but powerful conviction — that every Nigerian child, given the right environment and the right teachers, can achieve extraordinary things. That belief has guided everything we have done since the school opened its gates in 1999.
What started as a small nursery and primary school has grown into a full Nursery, Primary and Secondary institution that today serves hundreds of families across Enugu State. We have expanded our facilities, grown our teaching staff, and deepened our programmes — but our founding spirit has never changed: every child matters, every child can learn, and no child should be left behind.
Our name says it all. Gateway. We are not the destination — we are the door that opens into a future our students go on to build for themselves. And nothing makes us prouder than seeing a former Gateway student graduate from university, land a great job, start a business, or simply become a good human being who contributes to society.
Everything we do at Gateway — every lesson planned, every child counselled, every facility maintained — flows from these two commitments.
To provide a nurturing, academically rigorous, and values-driven education that equips every Gateway student — from nursery to secondary — with the knowledge, skills, and character they need to succeed in life and contribute positively to their communities and to Nigeria as a whole.
We pursue this mission through excellent teaching, strong pastoral care, modern facilities, and a genuine belief that education is the most powerful investment any family can make.
To be Enugu State's most trusted and most impactful school — a place where families know their children are safe, well-taught, and being raised into responsible, capable adults.
We envision a Gateway where every graduate leaves not just with certificates, but with confidence, integrity, and a genuine desire to keep learning long after they leave our gates. "Everyone a Changemaker" is not just our tagline — it is our promise to every family who trusts us with their child.
These are not words on a wall. They are the standards we hold ourselves and our students to — every single day.
We do not accept mediocrity. We push every student to discover what they are truly capable of — academically and personally.
We teach our students to be honest — in their work, in their relationships, and in how they carry themselves in the world.
Every child at Gateway is known by name. Our teachers are mentors, not just instructors, and our school is a community, not just a building.
We believe every child has untapped potential. Our job is to create the conditions for that potential to blossom — at every stage of their education.
We raise students who take ownership of their actions, respect others, and understand that they have a role to play in building a better Nigeria.
We want our students to ask questions, think critically, and never stop being curious — because the best learners are always the best earners.
