Gateway School runs two dedicated schools under one roof — each with its own head teacher, programme, and environment designed for that age group.

Nursery & Primary School

👤 Crèche — Primary 6  ·  Ages 2–12

Our nursery and primary school is where the foundation is laid. Children enter at crèche level and progress through Nursery 1, Nursery 2, then Primary 1 to 6 in a warm, structured, and age-appropriate environment. Small class sizes mean every teacher knows every child — by name, by strength, and by what they need to grow.

Secondary School

🎓 JSS1 — SS3  ·  Ages 11–18

Gateway Secondary School prepares students for WAEC, NECO, and life beyond school. The Junior Secondary (JSS1–JSS3) phase builds a broad academic base while Senior Secondary (SS1–SS3) allows students to specialise in Science, Arts, or Commercial streams — all under qualified, passionate subject teachers.

Academic Calendar

The School Year at Gateway

The Nigerian academic year runs from September to July, split into three terms. Here is how it works at Gateway School.

First Term

September — December

The new academic year kicks off. New students settle in, timetables are finalised, and the full academic programme begins. The term ends before Christmas with first-term examinations and report cards.

Second Term

January — April

The longest and most intensive term. Mid-term assessments, inter-house sports, cultural events, and parent-teacher meetings all fall within this period. Second-term exams close the term in April.

Third Term

April — July

The final push. SS3 students sit WAEC and NECO. Other classes complete third-term examinations and annual reports. The year closes with Graduation and Prize-Giving Day — one of the highlights of the Gateway calendar.
